Yes, I Know…I'm Supposed to Be Sleeping

Lilah’s asleep so I thought I would make a quick post to let you all know that I haven’t been committed to an asylum or jailed for throttling a patient appointments line operator.

DH finally caught me on IM and, after five tries, he was able to see me and Lilah on webcam!

Anyway, I’m curious…how many others out there have had deployment babies? How many people out there think they would never intentionally have a baby during their husband’s deployment? Just curious!

I usually had the baby 9 months *after* the deployment ended. πŸ˜‰ A couple of times I did have a very young baby when he deployed (as in under 2 months). But never a baby while he was deployed.

You’re handling a lot on your own!

My oldest daughter was born 9 months after he got back from a year in Bosnia (I wanted to complete graduate school before we had kids, so she was born when I had one class left, and I spent hours reading to her the finer points of strategic planning!). My second daughter was born 9 months after he spent three months training ROTC guys and was never home, and this baby was born 6 1/2 months after he deployed to Iraq.

We didn’t set out to have one during his deployment, but it worked out well. He was also able to make it home for the birth, so we were fortunate.

After 12 years of marriage and three beautiful children, we are done having children. It’s hard on him to be away from them when he deploys and I think three is about all I can handle and do a great job.

His R&R came so late for this deployment but since we knew we would PCS shortly after the due date would have been right as we left. So we purposely made sure we didn’t during R&R.

We are still trying he is here at school. It’d be nice to not have me have a job and a baby at the same time. We are still working on it.

I am 32 weeks pregnant and my husband leaves on the 30th of Oct., so yeah he’s going to miss the birth. This is his first deployment and our first child, I have no idea how I am supposed to be reacting to all this. I just hope our marriage can survive like yours has.
